STAFF ROLES
Corey Snyders: Coach Corey has been positioned as the Head of Junior Development, this means he is responsible for the performance, well being and technical development of the Nipper, Junior and Development squads. Any questions regarding these particular squads should be directed to him at coachcorey@hunterswimacademy.com, this includes competitions etc. This change has been made so that Head Coach Evan can continue to oversee the bigger picture of the whole program without having to micro-manage the other coaches.
Rachel Manton: Coach Rachel will be continuing in her role as Junior Development coach. However both Rachel and Corey will be coaching Development. Nipper & Junior squads together most sessions.
Helen Sullivan: Coach Helen will not be returning in the short-term. Due to this she has been repositioned as Coaching Development Consultant, and will be regularly attending our weekly coaches meetings to assist Coach Evan in the development of coaches Corey and Rachel, as well as the curriculum for the junior level squads.
Evan Russell: Head Coach Evan has started a weekly Swimming Fundamentals session, open to all squads on Wednesday mornings at 6am. This session will specifically be focussed on the development of stroke technique and skills.

SCHEDULING CHANGES
All scheduling changes are listed in the attached schedule and will start from the week starting monday March 11th.

Later AM start times: These changes will enable our swimmers (who in general are developing young-adults) to get an extra 30 minutes sleep per night. This is invaluable for continued health and general development, as well as for swimming performance. As such all squads from 12 years of age and up will start at 5.30am and finish at 7.30am during the week (6.00-8.00am on Saturday). We know that this will impede some swimmers ability to go home and get ready for school, and that they may need to get out early.
Our recommendation is: Bring your uniform and some breakfast to swim-practice and either eat at swim-practice before school, or eat in the car.

Understand that this decision has been made because an extra 30 minutes of sleep far outweighs the potential losses of having to get out 10 minutes early. This is about developing healthy, strong and fast young-adults, not just teenagers who can swim well.
Development Squad: There are now 8 sessions available Monday-Saturday (5 nights, 3 mornings), enabling multiple options for swim-practice during the week.

Junior & Nipper Squads: There are now 9 sessions available Monday-Saturday (5 nights, 4 mornings), enabling multiple options for swim-practice during the week. Coach Corey and Rachel (in consultation with Head Coach Evan and Coach Helen) are developing a curriculum that will provide swimmers with the program needed to become state level athletes. These squad will target 4 major meets a year; All Juniors (Feb-March), Warrnambool (June), SV Short-Course Competition (Sep) and Optus Jnr Dolphins (Nov).
Because this terms Thursday PM later start and finish time is a permanent change (6.00-7.45), these squads will train at Pelican Park on Thursday evenings, from 5.45-7.30, instead of Mornington.

Junior Target Squad: This squad has been renamed Regionals Squad, to avoid confusion with the Junior squad.

Junior State Squad: This squad has been renamed State Squad, to avoid confusion with the Junior squad. There are now 8 sessions available Monday-Saturday (4 nights, 4 mornings), enabling multiple options for swim-practice during the week, Monday nights will be at Pelican Park from 5.30-7.30. All dry-land in the afternoons will start at 5.30pm, not 5.00pm, as athletes of this age do not need to be training for 2.5hrs.

Senior Target Squad: This squad has been renamed Aussies Squad, to better reflect the athletes that we have enrolled. The minimum required sessions has also been lowered from 4 to 3.

Senior State Squad: This squad has been renamed Finals Squad to reflect the type of athletes that we have enrolled. Junior squad is designed to get an athlete to state level, State squad is designed to get to state finals level, Finals squad is designed to get to national level etc.

Open Squad: This squad has been renamed Iron Squad to reflect the type of athletes that we have enrolled. If we talk lifesaving; Nipper squad is designed to get an athlete to life-saving state level, Regionals squad is designed to get move towards life-saving national level, Aussies squad is designed to compete at a high level at life-saving nationals and Iron Squad are for those who wish to transition toward iron-man/woman competition. This squad is open to anyone 18 and over who desires to compete in iron-man/woman or triathlon competitions.

National Squad: No real changes with this squad, except that unless otherwise stated this squad will continue to train on public holidays.
